What We Do

Family Promise helps local communities coordinate their compassion to address the root causes of family homelessness. We address the issue holistically, providing prevention services before families reach crisis, shelter and case management when they become homeless, and stabilization programs once they have secured housing to ensure they remain independent. We tap existing local resources to empower families towards economic stability. Families come to us in crisis; we help them rebuild their lives with new skills and ongoing support.

Prevention

Preventing families from becoming homeless in the first place with Shelter Diversion, Rental Assistance and Transportation programs.

Shelter

Our shelter program and warm hospitality is the foundation of the Family Promise model.

Graduate Support Services

Helping the families we serve not only succeed today but remain stable in their housing, financial capability and career paths tomorrow.

Community Initiatives

Family Promise understands the needs of vulnerable families. So, we offer innovative programs – such as tenancy preparation, financial literacy, and virtual career pathway training - to address them in a cost-effective, targeted approach.

  • How long do families stay in the Interim House?
Ideally our families stay for 1-3 months while they get back on their feet. However, with rental prices soaring in the area, sometimes the stay extends beyond 3 months. All families' stays are determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • Are you building a new facility with more housing units?
Yes! Our new Resource Center on Newhall Ave will also have 4 additional 2 bed/1 bath interim house units on site, so we will be able to house even more families! Construction has started, and we hope it will be completed by the end of 2024.
  • What families do you serve?
We serve families at-risk of or currently experiencing homelessness in the Santa Clarita Valley. Each family must have at least one child under the age of 18 living with them and meet income limits.
  • How can I or my family/teen volunteer?
Preparing and delivering a meal, providing supplemental groceries, organizing a donation drive for in-kind items are all ways you can volunteer. Please reach out to contact@familypromisescv.org for more information.
